Importance of reaction volume in hadronic collisions: Canonical enhancement
نویسنده
چکیده
We study the canonical flavor enhancement. The theoretical motivation, and practical consequences, for both strangeness, and charm, are explored. We argue using qualitative and quantitative theoretical arguments, that this proposal to reevaluate strangeness signature of quark–gluon plasma is without merit. Submitted to: J. Phys. G: Nucl. Phys. Strangeness Enhancement and System Size in the Hadronic Gas Model
Strange particle enhancement in relativistic ion collisions is discussed with particular attention to the dependence on the size of the volume and/or the baryon number of the system. The motivation for using a " fireball " description for hadronic interactions comes from the work of Hagedorn [1]. In such a model one assumes that a thermal system is produced. This thermal " fireball " then expan...
متن کاملStrangeness and Antibaryon Production in Heavy-Ion Collisions
We review the experimental results on strangeness and antibaryon production in heavy-ion collisions at the AGS and SPS. We argue that the observed enhancement in kaon production at the AGS is consistent with hadronic description, while the multistrange baryon and antibaryon results at the SPS may need physics beyond hadronic nature. We call the need for measurements of low energy antilambda-pro...
متن کاملHadronization Revisited: the Dynamics behind Hadro-chemical Equilibrium
The multiplicities of hadronic species, from pions to omega hyperons created both in elementary, and in highly relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions, are known to exhibit a pattern that is very well reproduced within the framework of the statistical model as applied, in its canonical form, to the former class of reactions, and in the grand canonical version to the latter. To understand the or...
متن کاملLocal Thermal and Chemical Equilibration and the Equation of State in Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions
Thermodynamical variables and their time evolution are studied for central relativistic heavy ion collisions from 10.7 to 160 AGeV in the microscopic Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics model (UrQMD). The UrQMD model exhibits drastic deviations from equilibrium during the early high density phase of the collision. Local thermal and chemical equilibration of the hadronic matter seems to...
متن کاملΠρω Vertex in Nuclear Matter
Medium modifications of the πωρ vertex are analyzed in context of the ω → πγ and ρ → πγ decays in nuclear matter. A relativistic hadronic model with mesons, nucleons, and ∆(1232) isobars is applied. A substantial increase of the widths for the decays ω → πγ and ρ → πγ is found for photon virtualities in the range 0.3 − 0.6GeV. This enhancement has a direct importance for the description of dile...
